The Transformative Studies Institute (TSI) is a fully-volunteer nonprofit interdisciplinary social justice policy based institute and future graduate school. Our mission is to provide an inclusive educational space for research and practice for social justice by progressive academics, community organizers, and activists.

Online Fundraiser

We are seeking a volunteer Online Fundraiser to increase donations received through the Internet. Strong writing and editing skills, experience in marketing, communications, public relations, online giving, and project management.  In return you can add to your portfolio or resume, get publicity and credit through the organization, and effect important social change. Director of Grants

The Director of Grants is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate TSI's mission and programs to potential funders. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Grants will assemble and submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders;
• Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations;
• Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers;
• Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of foundation gifts;
• Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports;
• Conducting prospect research;
• Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals’
• Providing writing support for major donor and individual contribution letters and acknowledgements.

Additional Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be able to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner. Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly-organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information. A high level of computer literacy required. Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form. Publicist

TSI is seeking a competent publicist to increase interest in and exposure of our institution, its programs and the journal Theory in ActionQualifications: must have experience working with educational institutions, non-profits or academic publishing houses and be able to commit at least five hours per week. The qualified individual should be able to work independently. This is an excellent opportunity to gain additional experience while working for a just cause. Please send cover letter and current CV as MS word attachments to: info (at) transformativestudies.org. This is a volunteer position.
Advertising Director

Reviewers
Theory in Action-The Journal of the Transformative Studies Institute is accepting applications for reviewers. Although this is an internet volunteer position, you will experience a wide range of rewards: be the first to read cutting edge research that will contribute toward real on-the-ground societal changes, make a social contribution of your own, gain experience working with professional journals and the peer-review publication process, obtain an important credential and skills. No prior experience is required and we recruit widely from all disciplines and backgrounds.
